William Kim Foster, 69, of Philadelphia, PA and Longboat Key, FL, died peacefully at home on August 15, 2018, after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Kim was born on October 1, 1948, in New London, Connecticut, to the late William Lester Foster and Jeanne Wise Foster. In 1970, Kim graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the United States Naval Academy, and, after being commissioned, served honorably as a Nuclear Submarine Officer for five years.

In 1977, Kim earned his Masters in Business Administration from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business. He devoted a thirty-four year career to FMC Corporation, retiring as the company’s Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in 2012. Kim also served on the Boards of Directors for Hexcel Corporation and Teleflex Incorporated.

In August of 1978, Kim married Lisa Clark Whitney, a fellow MBA student at the University of Virginia. Lisa and Kim were happily married for forty years and raised three beloved children together. Kim is survived by his wife, Lisa; his children, Amy, Will and Sam; his granddaughter, Hazel; his brothers, Tom and Rick; and his sister, Lee.

Services will be held at 1:00PM EST on Friday, September 7, 2018, at Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church in Bryn Mawr, PA. An informal reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Naval Academy Fund (EIN 23-7003516, William Kim Foster ‘70) or to Jefferson’s Pancreatic Cancer Surgical Research Fund.
